One of my favorite spots in NOVA! I am an ABC that lived in Flushing, NY for over 20 years so I like to think I am a bit credible for Dim Sum/BBQ Meat Window. Not fair to compare this place to NY or LA but for the area, the dishes are as legit as they come. Highly recommend the classic shrimp dumpling, pork spare rib, beef ribs, eggplant, etc. Haven’t had many dishes that I disliked and it reminded me of home with the nice dim sum ladies trying to throw a mountain of plates on me the second our table sat down haha. If you are looking for the spot where they still roll out the carts and friendly staff, this is your spot.

The inside of HKP is massive, with lots of communal tables available. During dimsum, you might get seated next to strangers for the sake of getting folks in the door, but never fear! Dimsum makes it all better! There are tons of carts rolling around with your typical favorites, like har gow, shau mai, shortribs, phoenix claws, chive buns, char siu buns, etc. The staff is no-nonsense, straight to the point, which is what I look for in my dimsum experience. You can choose your tea (they’ll ask what you want), and I always go for the chrysanthemum.

It’s a madhouse when you come here and even when you get seated but the food is so worth it! The char siu pork is definitely good especially when warmed up. I also like the the banh uot (rice noodle with the big shrimp wrapped inside). And you definitely can’t walk out without eating some egg custards! Those are the three things I definitely recommend. Also get some tea with the rock sugar! Everything else is dependent upon what people like to eat at the table.
